CARBON BORDER ADJUSTMENT MECHANISM (CBAM) TRAINING COURSE  

COURSE INTRODUCTION  

Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is the EU policy to prevent carbon leakage - companies within the EU shift carbon-intensive production to countries with less stringent climate policies.

It is the EU's tool to establish a fair carbon pricing for both imported goods entering the EU and domestic production within the EU that bears carbon costs under the EU ETS, and to encourage cleaner industrial production in non-EU countries.

The EU Commission plans to review and potentially expand the product scope of CBAM by December 2025, expecting full inclusion of all EU ETS products by 2030.
